- 16:23 @saxgoddess25 GDL wrote the comic strip, and there's some cute new photies. The interviews, however, are a massive attempt at STFU from TBTB #

Date: 2010-04-17 12:00 am (UTC)Gareth's getting in line like a good little soldier. The industry is small, I guess, so there's no use getting a bad reputation by looking like you disagree with your (ex-)boss.

Date: 2010-04-17 08:32 am (UTC)BUT that doesn't knock the fact that this is absolutely a big STFU from the people at the top about Ianto's death. It's like they're telling us that because Gareth wants us to support his new projects, and because Gareth doesn't openly support the campaign to bring him back, then we should stop wanting him back. But that's not how it works. Gareth has NEVER told of his support because he CAN'T - he's said he's "humbled" but that's it.
The whole point of interviewing him was to try and force the fans to move on, which doesn't work. You don't force the fans to do anything. They never interviewed Naoko or Burn after their characters died to see "how they'd moved on" so why interview Gareth? Why get him back in the first place? Easy: money. He's where the fandom lies.
And why are they even asking him about Alonso? You didn't get the Magazine asking Naoko or Burn about "the future of Torchwood" after they'd been killed off, so why the hell are you dangling Jack's "major new character development" *el vomito* in front of Gareth? What the else hell is he supposed to reply?
Big STFU. But luckily, they make themselves so obvious, everyone will be able to see that.
