Warnings: Fluff, mention of The Tea Boy possibly being significant to the Captain. AS IF!
Disclaimer: These characters belong to RTD, who I could hate. OMG how could Jack do that to Gwen at the end of CoE?
Summary: A drabble of Gwack fluff, written foriceshade after she suggested I try my hand.
I tried to portray the relationship as real and as canon-viable as possible. XD
Jack looked at Gwen.
Gwen looked at Jack.
The tension was sizzling.
All around them, the atmosphere was practically sparking and crackling. Gwen felt her breathing deepen while her lungs were trying to draw air in and out faster, her heart racing in her chest and thudding so loud she could hear the blood rushing around her ears.
How can he make me feel like this? she wondered, tearing her eyes away, thinking of Rhys sat at home waiting for her. She waited for her body to calm down, breathing in deeply through her nose to steady herself and concentrate on the computers in front of her, half-typed and tedious reports taunting her from the monitors.
“Gwen!” Jack called, and before she knew what she was doing, Gwen was on her feet and striding into the office as the one syllable of her name rolled from the Captain's tongue.
“Yes, Jack?” she asked, hoping her voice was as calm as he made his. He signalled for her to take the seat opposite him, and she did so, sitting primly and avoiding his eyes for a moment. Taking a deep breath to prepare herself, she raised her gaze to fix with his, and his piercing blue eyes met her like an electric shock to her system.
His mouth moved as words came out, but Gwen couldn't tell what he was saying. The deep timbre of his voice washed over her, and she was so glad she wasn't standing up – someone might notice how weak her knees had become, or how her legs would shake as she watched his soft lips parting and closing … so inviting … she wished she could just ….
What was this connection they had? Where did it come from? How did it happen? Why him? Why her?
Gwen's head buzzed and her racing heart sang as Jack smiled broadly, flashing his perfect teeth and making his face light up, his skin glow. She smiled right back, knowing he felt it, too, and his eyes twinkled as she held his gaze.
Think of Rhys, she told herself, and snapped out of the trance the Captain's unfathomably blue eyes always held her in.
“I'll … go do that ….” she muttered.
Gwen looked at Jack.
Jack looked at Gwen.
He got that he was good-looking, but why was she staring so intently?
Did he have something on his face?
Dismissing her, he called for Ianto.
Excellent! Ianto-time – the best way to waste time, as far as Jack was concerned.
(because they are in WUB GODDAMMIT!)
Also … NOM. MAN-SMEX.
Well there you go! It would seem to be physically impossible for me to write a Gwack fic.
