The "I Just Want My Beloved To Be Happy" trope is such an easy one to mess up...but this? Hell, this is the most heartbroken I've felt without it actually being my heart that's been broken.
Whilst I do feel bad for Jack, this is a lesson he seriously needs to learn. The control has been totally taken away from him for the first time, and he can do nothing about it except wait. I honestly can't think of a better punishment for this Jack to go through.
At least he'll get to kill Saxon off in a few years. Jack has something to look forward to! :)
