Well, late to the party as usual! I wanted my best wishes though. I live with pain daily, so I know how it can wear you down physically & emotionally. I hope Holyfrell's tur s out to be a case with more remissions than flare ups!
I dealt with a really bad case of pleurisy a few years ago. I think if I had to chose, I rather have my back pain than perpetual chest pain, I remember how worn out it made me feel to not take a deep breath without it hurting worse.
You said no treatment besides pain medicine. I use a TENS unit a lot for my back & neck. Maybe you could ask about trying this? If it is helpful, it means less pain without being so doped up from the meds
