So, you're trying to get over a bit of writers' block ... and then This Happens (only click if you have a strong stomach or think the idea of Torchwood hiring a Lovable Paedophile is a great move).

I suppose this should bring out my fighting spirit, and rekindle the fire so to speak, but it just depresses me to think that RTD would ruin his own show like this - and a show I loved. It's like he's trying to mess it all up.

kholran and I think that it's probably RTD getting bored of killing off likable characters, so in order to make Gwen the Ultimate Icon rather than the Flawed Character (FFS! AS A FLAWED CHARACTER, SHE'D WORK PERFECTLY! STOP TRYING TO SHOVE HER DOWN OUR THROATS AS AWESOME! *ahem*) he's just creating repulsive ones instead. Oh, and recycling Toshiko from Classic Torchwood with a new ethnic minority, and Mulder from a show that isn't even his.


Obviously, I praying it's a hoax, but TV Guide picked up the story so now I'm not so sure. It's so ridiculous, it might just be true.


So while Torchwood is, as I said, dead to me, that doesn't mean I want to stop writing just yet. Yes, I've got writers' block just as tw_bigbang posts their reminder that drafts are due in a month and I haven't updated for a fortnight and my entire fic file is at a standstill, but I'm not giving up on Jack and Ianto just yet. Things will get going again, no matter what RTD tries to do with this bastardized version of Torchwood.

I might send an email to the BBC asking if they would consider giving Torchwood to Super Moff.

But remember, just b/c the creator fucks with your favorite ship/show/everything, doesn't mean you have to give up on the fandom. Goodness knows JKR fucked over Sirius/Remus shippers with all the insanity/out of character-ness in the 6th and 7th books, but that sure doesn't mean we've stopped shipping.

(Hell, I may or may not have found evidence in the 7th book, *after Remus gets married to Tonks* that supports my ship. :P)

After all, terrible occurances like these are why fans invented AU.

A couple of places are saying its a hoax. One link I put up on my journal says its a copy of the casting call for the US version of "Scoundrels", not Torchwood. My guess is someone got ahold of it, thought it would be fun to stir up the fans, made a few edits in photoshop and voila! Instant fanwank!

then a beautiful and smart girl sitting the shadows in love with a guy that doesn't notice her. tosh did the exact same thing to owen. loved him and owen realised when it was to late!

then the beautiful welsh name that captain jack loves to say in his american accent, Jones, Ianto, Jones. of course the pedophiles first name isnt ianto. he shares the last name of everyones favorite character from the show. IANTO JONES!!!! the one we spent years saving from becoming a zombie and getting killed off in the first two seasons. and who only died a year ago!!!!

Get rid of those fucking characters and bring us back the ones we want! Ianto, Tosh and Owen. this is sci-fi people its not that hard! i'll even give you a very easy idea COE was all a dream!

The more this whole idea stews in my brain, the more pissed off I get. I mean, they want to portray the pedophile as...as what? As something that isn't an absolute monster? As something we can laugh with, or feel sympathy for? No. No. That is... this is morally reprehensible, it really is. I mean, what the fuck RTD? What the fuck?

He goes around and does these things like shows that are all for advocating gay rights, and condom usage, and AIDs awareness, and just...he goes and does this? I mean, I didn't really have a *huge* amount of respect for him, but I think he *has* done something for the gay movement. And now...fucking pedophiles? Are you serious? I mean, just...

Hey, if I can retcon myself so that CoE never happened, I can retcon this too.
And of course Ianto and Jack will have to live forever in fic. Don't give up on them--they're our boys!
After all, if people still write ten/rose fic even though ten and rose haven't really been on the same show since 3 seasons ago, I'm sure we can still write Jack/Ianto for a long time coming. Also, I'm pretty sure the cast list thing must be a joke or a fake. It has to be. Right?

Seriously, if that's not a fake then that all sounds like a horrible idea and should be scrapped with extreme prejudice. Turning Torchwood into the X-Files just doesn't do it for me.

I wonder if there will be any sci-fi elements at all in GnuTorchwood? Wouldn't surprise me if that element got nixed completely in favour of EXPLOSIONS AND DRAMA. Turning Torchwood into 24 also doesn't do it for me, by the way.

I once saw a con panel where someone had found out a spoiler for Ianto's death and asked him about it. I think this is deliberate (and that's why all these sites have exact same information); they're trying to prevent spoilers like that from happening by throwing all of this false info out there.

Okay I love your blog and have absolute love for your stories (which is why I decided to add you :-) )

Yet with this I really am hoping it's a hoax. Because seriously? These characters are just plain.... eeeh I think RTD has had enough of Torchwood and is destroying it so he can work on shows with the US.

However personally I don't think RTD actually liked Ianto from the start (although who couldn't like Yan is just plain silly *huggles Ianto*) because he was originally going to kill him off in Cyberwoman and then he was going to be the one in Reset before they decided on Owen.... and I don't know I just think he needed a reason too.

But putting rant aside.... Torchwood will always be season one and two. Children of Earth does not exist for me.

Oi, this is an excellent reason to KEEP WRITING! Just keep those alternatives to very, erm, unsatisfying canon coming.

RTD...For some reason I never much liked his later DW or TW season finales, they've too much grandstanding. To be very, very honest with you, I like Steven Moffat's DW season 5 finale, with all its cleverness and timey-wimey puzzles much better.
