  • 07:37 If you vote BNP, you are a racist. You don't even understand the concept of what Britain is. Go back to the Victorian era, we don't want you #
  • 08:18 @deathbymutation British National Party-a political party who main agenda is basically to remove all non-white from the UK and purify race. #
  • 16:10 @deathbymutation haha thanks! I'm also on their party leader's facebook trolling a bit. Though ...it's hard to be 'troll' when you're (cont) #
  • 16:11 @deathbymutation ... the most well-informed and educated person in the argument. All they can throw at me is "WELL YOU'RE THE RACIST THEN!" #
Borin' ol' me!

Hehehe, this.

I once heard someone say "I'm voting BNP, coz they give priority to the whites an' all that, but I have black friends so I'm not a racist or anyfing."

Bleurgh.

And they should leave Marmite alone, as well!

Clearly not a very good friend if they're voting for legislation that will essentially mean anyone who doesn't have white skin will have to live in fear of deportation - no matter whether or not they were born here.

Pfff 'I'm not racist because I have coloured friends'. Whatever.

I have male friends. Does that mean I'm a man?

Ooh, just got my BNP leaflet through the door. It's hilarious.

Quick question though. There was another leaflet sitting on our doorstep from another candidate which we had forgotten to pick up. The guy posting the BNP candidates picked up the other party's leaflet and shoved it in his back. Is this illegal?

[identity profile] a-silver-story.livejournal.com 2010-05-04 05:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes! It is illegal!

Under the 'Symbols' section of the Political Party Codes of Conduct:

Symbols

A party that has subscribed to this Code will not:

  • imitate the symbols of another party;
  • steal, disfigure, or destroy political or campaign materials of another party;
    or
  • encourage its supporters to do anything prohibited by this section or condone such action.

By taking the other party's leaflet, the BNP rep stole it and broke the Code of Conduct. I think you should probably report them!

I thought it was illegal.

Who should I report them to?

Oh, and the person writing the leaflet speaks worse English than the Croatians next door to me.

You need to complain to the Standards Board for England, (http://www.standardsforengland.gov.uk) and specify which parts of the Code of Conduct were broken (Symbols for stealing campaign materials; Campaign Management Section C for preventing the distribution of another party's leaflets).

I'm not sure what this penalty is, but I know that reps can be banned for up to five years for breaking the CoC.

Let me know what they say!

Also, just found this. Under Campaign Management, it says specifically:

b) A party that has subscribed to this Code will not

  • harass or obstruct journalists who are engaged in their professional activities, or disrupt, destroy, or frustrate the campaign efforts of any other party;
  • prevent the distribution of handbills and leaflets, and the display of posters, of other parties and candidates;
  • deface or destroy posters of other parties and candidates;
    prevent any other party from holding rallies, meetings, marches, or demonstrations;
  • seek to prevent any person from attending the political rallies of another party;
    or
  • encourage its supporters to do anything prohibited by this section or condone such actions.

Isn't it?

I tried talking to a couple on facebook, and all they could really do was say "erm ... well ... YOU'RE THE RACIST FASCIST!!", and then "YOU FUCKING COMMUNIST!" and then they just ... started getting personal because what else is there left for them?
