Excellence. That's pretty much the first word that springs to mind after reading the story so far. I don't really have the energy to give a more in-depth review than that at the moment, but I thought you would like to know that your writing is very much appreciated!
I especially like the relative IC-ness of Ianto - after all, it not being the Torchwood universe and his having a different past that of course affects his character, however it seems to me to be very much how Ianto -would- be had he the past you describe... or something. I'm distracted by the fact that the team over there --> have no noses.
One thing I did pick up on was the importance of Toshiko & her relationship to Ianto (something that a lot of fanfic writers seem to write about. and who can blame them really? She's by far the coolest character), and also the unimportance of Gwen (who can get very annoying - not that I don't like her, but she does need to be the centre of attention most of the time). I've lost track of what I was trying to say. No wait, I got it: it's not a bad thing, but it's also an easy trap to fall into to make the characters you like less less important than they could/should be. I mean, although I only just read all the chapters now, the only mention of Gwen I can recall was in this last one where Ianto gave her a quick hug and they didn't really have anything to say to each other... (though to be honest their relationship is kinda that way in the first two seasons of Torchwood; but not so much in CoE, and the setting is different here so I would expect at least a little bit more of a friendship, or something.... I dunno. it's 4:30am and my brain's not working properly and I'm rambling and I keep thinking of Kuririn/Krillin/whateveryacallhim. Damn nose-less images that keep staring it me!)
