*shrugs* I thought it would be interesting to experiment with Jack's internal conflicts on the subject of Ianto and Button - if there were any. It is a thousand years on, and while Jack still loves Ianto, he's loved others too. Button is there in the here and now for Jack, and having a fling while searching out the history of a dead man wouldn't be morally consequential for him, I shouldn't think.
