WHAT. THE. FUCK?

Okay ... so I dunno ... but quite a few people seem to be wondering 'Why does Jack come back to Earth?'. Is it to make right all that he did wrong? Is it to finally face his past? Is it because he remembers he has a fucking duty down here?

No.

Oh no.

According to Starz Press Room, it runs so much more deeper than that. Yes - he returns to Earth for a reason so much more profound than anything we ever truly considered - nay, even pondered on.

Captain Jack Harkness returns to planet Earth, facing the depression and ghosts that haunt his every waking step and the 'graveyard' of his own making ... because of his 'unstated love for Gwen Cooper'.

Don't believe me?

Here you go:

It's in the character assassination bio for Jack, right under 'He's a slut, he's a slut, he's a slut', and just above 'Gwen is the ULTIMATE WARRIOR!!!!!!!!!!'.

Don't bother looking for a reference to Tosh, Owen or Ianto. 'His friends are dead' are all you're getting as far as continuation is concerned.

On the bright side, Gwen named her baby 'Anwen'. Awwww!

And Rex Matheson sounds like a total arse - and he's not even the paedophile.

Love it! Jack is an American (huh?). Gwen with baby on her chest (nursing I presume, its cable after all), Rex (a name that should only be used for dogs not people) so uber-talented and yet he's a CIA nobody, and Rhys, sigh, it was good to know you. And sci-fi - for a sci-fi show, I'm not seeing a whole lot there.

Happy birthday Ianto - you are so much better in fan fic land protected by your loving admirers from the evil hack Rusty.

Honestly, Silver, I am so literally sickened by this that I simply can't respond in any way other than, well, yeah. WTF.

Thank you for posting this. I'd been trying to stay reasonably objective about the new series and not say definitively that I will or won't watch, but this just swung me right over into the DO NOT WANT EVER side.

Okay... So Gwenwood is almost certain here

Okay, so I've been a lurker here for a while now, but I've signed up for the sole purpose of commenting after seeing this.
So, Jack is coming back because he loves Gwen, I thought he left because there's not enough left on Earth for him to stay. And if they wanted Jack with Gwen, why did they put Ianto and Rhys into the story, unless all they were meant to do was to die or get Gwen pregnant. Or, to make the Gwack even more 'likely', maybe they'll make little Anwen Jack's kid for some reason.
And, if Anwen is named after Ianto and Owen... anyone should know that putting those two together means big trouble, and to name your husband's child after someone you had an affair with! Doesn't Gwen have any sense? I like the name though, it's cool and cute.
And I agree with what one of the comments above said, it would be awesome if in the future Anwen runs off with Jack! But canon probably wouldn't let that happen, so I'm going to plead for a fic about this from someone.
If the next season is too much like a new show, without much mention of the characters who've died, I'm going to quit Torchwood, as much as I don't want to.
Don't like the Rex person much, but maybe he can run off with Gwen and leave the show. Why did they introduce him when Captain John is still on Earth and waiting?
Also, the world is going to hell again? Which favourite is going to die this time?
And lastly, Shanghai slums? Shanghai doesn't have slums, that's a special thing about Chinese cities, they don't have slums, when the city ends it's just the countryside!
Whoa long comment, now I've commented once I'll comment more, I love the fics here!

Every thing I read about this new farce makes me feel just a little bit sadder and a little bit sicker. I keep remembering how they are all telling us not to worry, that they won't take any of the Torchwood-ness away from it, but then I remember how JB himself told us that Janto fans would be pleased with... you know, that thing that was on last Summer...and, well, we just weren't.

On another topic though, was that your letter in this issue of the Torchwood magazine, sighed simply 'Silver'? lol, loved it.

The more I hear about series 4 the more I seriously want to punch something. Seriously, I am so done with Torchwood as a show. I just can't put myself through it. I know that probably sounds overdramatic but I don't see why I should be loyal to a show that treats its fans so badly.
I'm sticking purely to fan fiction from now on.

Oh that its ... oh. Makes me appreciate fandoms where the creators give a about the fans damn so much more now. Wow.

Well, I'm now done with Torchwoodd canon, bye all! I'll still read awesome fanfic, though.

Of all of that drivel, my favorite bit has to be when they're trying to be all mysterious about Jack's past. A man with his name has a history that stretches back to world war two, to the eighteenth century.

Then the next paragraph starts with 'Truth is, he's immortal.' Wow, suspenseful.

*cleans up computer*

I love waiting to read about Torchwood updates on your journal. Even though 90% of them result in serious spit-takes all over my computer screen, it is so worth it.

Although I can't say that I'm actually looking forward to this new season. I get substantially less excited for it every time they release new information on it. Which is kind of awful. I had hopes. (I can't say that they were hopes that it was going to be 'good.' But they were hopes none the less.)

Here's to at least getting at least a good laugh out of the new season?
