Okay ... so I dunno ... but quite a few people seem to be wondering 'Why does Jack come back to Earth?'. Is it to make right all that he did wrong? Is it to finally face his past? Is it because he remembers he has a fucking duty down here?

Oh no.

According to Starz Press Room, it runs so much more deeper than that. Yes - he returns to Earth for a reason so much more profound than anything we ever truly considered - nay, even pondered on.

Captain Jack Harkness returns to planet Earth, facing the depression and ghosts that haunt his every waking step and the 'graveyard' of his own making ... because of his 'unstated love for Gwen Cooper'.

Don't believe me?

Here you go:

It's in the character assassination bio for Jack, right under 'He's a slut, he's a slut, he's a slut', and just above 'Gwen is the ULTIMATE WARRIOR!!!!!!!!!!'.

Don't bother looking for a reference to Tosh, Owen or Ianto. 'His friends are dead' are all you're getting as far as continuation is concerned.

On the bright side, Gwen named her baby 'Anwen'. Awwww!

And Rex Matheson sounds like a total arse - and he's not even the paedophile.

Well ... a 'promotional image' of TW has surfaced, over on SFX (I haven't read the interview because it's with RTD, and I'll probably just get angry).

So ... erm ... yeah?

Composition with only two subjects has to be of the same 'status', otherwise the picture leans. See how the skyscrapers they tried to balance it out with LEAN because the right side of the image is taken up by SMALL Jack since there isn't enough room for him next to DOMINANT Gwen. Maybe the skyscraper will fall on him and bury him for a billion years so that he can't interfere with Gwenwood.

Why did I promise myself I'd watch the first few episodes of this? I hope to GOD some kind of MIRACLE happens and something DECENT is produced, because I won't be able to get those hours of my life back.

EDIT: At least I got my new series of 'Animals at Work', and I have to say there's far more interesting drama in chicken-guarding alpacas than in RTD's left horn!

So, you're trying to get over a bit of writers' block ... and then This Happens (only click if you have a strong stomach or think the idea of Torchwood hiring a Lovable Paedophile is a great move).

I suppose this should bring out my fighting spirit, and rekindle the fire so to speak, but it just depresses me to think that RTD would ruin his own show like this - and a show I loved. It's like he's trying to mess it all up.

[livejournal.com profile] kholran and I think that it's probably RTD getting bored of killing off likable characters, so in order to make Gwen the Ultimate Icon rather than the Flawed Character (FFS! AS A FLAWED CHARACTER, SHE'D WORK PERFECTLY! STOP TRYING TO SHOVE HER DOWN OUR THROATS AS AWESOME! *ahem*) he's just creating repulsive ones instead. Oh, and recycling Toshiko from Classic Torchwood with a new ethnic minority, and Mulder from a show that isn't even his.

Obviously, I praying it's a hoax, but TV Guide picked up the story so now I'm not so sure. It's so ridiculous, it might just be true.

So while Torchwood is, as I said, dead to me, that doesn't mean I want to stop writing just yet. Yes, I've got writers' block just as [livejournal.com profile] tw_bigbang posts their reminder that drafts are due in a month and I haven't updated for a fortnight and my entire fic file is at a standstill, but I'm not giving up on Jack and Ianto just yet. Things will get going again, no matter what RTD tries to do with this bastardized version of Torchwood.

I might send an email to the BBC asking if they would consider giving Torchwood to Super Moff.

N/B.: Wasn't 'Matherson' the name of GDL's character in Girl Number Nine? And making 'Jones' the paedophile? What's with that?

Torchwood series 4 Announced

According to the quote in the article, it's going to be 'bigger and bolder than ever' (what? again? Bigger and bolder than ever ... again? FFS! 'bigger and bolder' doesn't exactly translate well. Look at Jurassic Park II and the TRex in San Diego! May have been bigger ... certainly wasn't 'better'.)

Thankfully not an American reboot (thank Christ they dropped that idea), but it will be a ten episode, three-way production between BBC Cyrmu, BBC Worldwide and American network Starz with RTD, Julie Gardner and Jane Tranter in charge. Instead of being based in Cardiff, it's going to be all over the place in 'international locations'.

Just what the Torchwood fans wanted. Definitely. Without a doubt. I mean, one of the things we LOVED about CoE was that it wasn't in Cardiff, right?

Why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why can't they just FUCKING. STAY. IN. CARDIFF? And WTF? Gwen's still in Torchwood? Does she lose her baby somehow? Surely Gwen isn't so irresponsible (okay - she's had her moments, but when it comes to kids, parents generally have some form of clarity) as to continue work for Torchwood with a dependent child? I mean ... it's not like she KNOWS RTD will NEVER EVER kill her ....

Maybe she'll just be wandering around in the background like Donna did in the End of Time, with no discernible or real reason for being there other than LOOK AT THE POPULAR ACTRESS! LOOK! WE DIDN'T FORGET HER AFTER WE BALLSED UP HER STORYLINE!

And JACK - sending Jack off-planet at the end of CoE always confused me. Cuz ... there was no way they weren't gonna bring him back. What a waste of my screen time.

JACK: I'm going. I can't ever return here. This planet is a graveyard to me.

[an appropriate amount of plot happens (though probably not very much, really)]

Maybe series four will be Jack taking Rhys, Gwen and Baby around all the places he visited on his six months travelling after torturing his grandson to death.

Despite my instantly negative reaction, I will have to give it a go. There is the teeniest, tiniest smidgen of chance that it might actually be worth the time and effort. My biggest drawbacks are a) WTF NOT IN CARDIFF? WHY WHY WHY??? WHAT ABOUT THE RIFT?

and b) RTD is writing again. Could he at least have a beta this time? Please? Maybe a continuation whiteboard to go with his new, shiny, US office?

Cuz ... srsly ... USA can keep him.

EDIT: As [livejournal.com profile] iantogodeo pointed out, there's no mention of Kai Owen or Tom Price. Maybe Rhys and Andy ran away together with Gwen's baby, and that's why it's vaguely sane for Gwen to still be with Torchwood. Rhys + Andy= Rhandy. CSI: Cardiff could still happen.

Ianto Jones, because he deserved someone who was actually worth his time, unlike that crappy!Jack we saw in series 3. Y'know ... the one that was totally different in every single sense of the phrase 'different' from anything we've seen in previous series. The one also known as 'bastard!Jack'.

Ianto was sweet and lovely, passionate and mysterious. He was funny without trying, witty and intelligent and the calm, well-dressed gentleman all men and women wish they had.

He was also rather fit. Even when he turned blue (which was just insulting; everyone knows red was his colour!).

I'm not usually one for mixing up punctuation at the end of sentences to 'increase emphasis on the point', but I shall make this one exception:

SaveIantoJones.com is the last chance.

Save him, my padawans, minions and angry mobsters! Save him before Gwenwood comes and we're all bored to death!

Firstly - apologies for all the CoE and, more recently Gwen-centred bashing in this journal. I promise you it will eventually, maybe, someday ... stop. Okay, the Gwen-bashing might, but CoE was so much fail even bringing Ianto back won't make me see that many positives, I shouldn't think.

Anyhoo, I bring you more fail - of the most epic of proportions. Perhaps not quite so epic a the possiblity of sound travelling in space, or a virus being released from an air-tight box and actually being able to kill people in under ten minutes (c'mon! Even ebola isn't that fast - and ebola's had practice!), but it is still quite a ridiculous failure.

Look at the day, clearly spelt out on Ianto's newspaper at the beginning of Day Two:

So ... if Day Two was Wednesday, Day Three was Thursday and Day Four was Friday ... logic tells us that Day Five would be a Saturday. So ... um ... why were all the kids at school, in full school uniform, on a Saturday?

Also, Gareth was exhibiting a bit of a weird thumb, there. Dontcha think?

Sorry there was nothing but stony silence in this journal last night - my internet went properly mental and wouldn't let me do ANYTHING! *hyperventilates*

Anyhoo ... it's back online now, so I've decided to share a couple of icons I made during this difficult, non-internet filled time:

I'm already working on some stuff to post later, and hopefully I'll be back on top of everything soon-ish :)

REMEMBER: Comment [or at least] Credit if you take.

Following a suggestion from [livejournal.com profile] torchwoodheaven, I've made this icon:

I've also made a couple of other CoE related icons ....

Finally, this icon is too big to use on livejournal, and photoshop won't let me edit it down. So I'll share anyway as it will be usable on forums and deviantart and stuff like thattttahhh.

Remember: Comment and CREDIT if you take. My flying monkeys are getting agitated.

Okay, so a couple of people like my icons, so I've decided to share them with everyone. Take 'em, use 'em, stick 'em in the National Gallery ... as long as you credit me. :)

It turns out Russell T. Davies does appreciate his fans and does acknowledge that he needs them to continue his career and what they think about his work is an important factor in the direction of a show - he also openly admits that maybe he's not as good a writer as Steven Moffat, and that he really was trying to 'do a Joss Whedon' with the whole Ianto thing.

Now that would be weird.

Just some fun I've been having with PhotoFunia. (It makes your photos ... funnier ... haha oh the linguistic pun!)

MASSIVELY SPOILERY ... then again ... if you haven't heard the spoilers yet ... where HAVE you been? )
